Things to do within easy reach of our B&B and Quarryman’s Cottage
We are located at the centre of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Llŷn Peninsula in North West Wales, and are central to the seaside villages of Morfa Nefyn, Nefyn, Abersoch, and Aberdaron and our local market town of Pwllheli. We are also less than an hour from the Snowdonia National Park.
We are therefore ideally placed for those who enjoy the great outdoors, in an area that can offer so much not least of which is the amazing peace and tranquillity and the abundant fresh air that you will find here even in the height of summer.
Here you will be able to choose from a wide range of activities as you will see below…
We cater for walkers along the Llŷn Coastal Footpath providing a shuttle service to and from our home to any start and finishing points between Clynnog Fawr and Aberdaron on the north coast and from Aberdaron as far as Pwllheli or even Criccieth on the south coast. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch on your way if you so desire.
Walk in the foothills of Snowdon or climb to its summit from Llanberis, again less than an hour’s drive from either location.
There are also countless circular walks along quiet country lanes and footpaths, that offer stunning scenery and you can walk some moderately challenging climbs to the top of the sites of our Iron Age hillforts at Tre’r Ceiri, Carn Boduan, Garn Fadryn and more. Enjoy the 360 degree views across to Anglesey in the North, the whole sweep of Cardigan Bay and Pembrokeshire in the south, the Snowdonia range of mountains in the East, and over the western tip of the Llŷn Peninsula and Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli) and across to the Wicklow mountains in Southern Ireland when clear.
There are fabulous empty golden sandy beaches, and clean seas. There are countless beautiful beaches on the Llŷn Peninsula at Morfa Nefyn, Porth Dinllaen, Abersoch, Whistling Sands (Porth Oer), Hells Mouth (Porth Neigwl), Aberdaron and Pwllheli and lots of other secret places that we will share with you and all within easy reach.
Horse riding holidays
Within 15 minutes’ walk from our home you will find a top class riding school that offers riding lessons on a class of Lusitano Stallion that you will very very rarely get an opportunity to ride. They truly are stunning animals. The riding school also offers accompanied hacks on more modest horses, along country lanes and mountain tracks and to some of our local beaches..
Why not come on a cycling holiday along miles of stunning quiet coastal country lanes and we can arrange cycle hire delivered here by prior arrangement. No need to carry those unwieldy bike racks and bikes; just leave all that to us.
Within 3 miles you can be teeing off at Nefyn Golf course and enjoy one of the most spectacular locations to play your 18/19 holes. And if you fancy there are three more golf courses within a ten-mile radius of here at Abersoch, Pwllheli and Cricieth with Portmadog and Harlech being that little farther away.
In Pwllheli you will find a marina that boasts one of the prime sailing locations in the UK; the venue for countless national and international sailing competitions and events. It also has ample facilities for the leisure sailor and boat owner with park and launch and servicing facilities for your pride and joy.
A journey through history and pre-history
There are a multitude of prehistoric sites that date back to the Neolithic, Bronze and Iron ages that gave birth to the Legends of Wales; travel along the Medieval Pilgrim’s trail to Bardsey Island and learn the stories about the 20,000 saints buried on the island. Visit very early sites of Christian worship with some dating back to the 5th century and the later Tudor churches while some of our chapels celebrate the resurrection of Christianity in Wales in the late 19th and early 20th century.
We would also recommend that you visit some of the area’s more popular attractions:
